In order to be eligible to advance to the next level and test for promotion, a student must be a member of the dojo in good standing, have knowledge and proficiency of the required techniques, have good attendance, etc.
Beginning adults can promote directly to 7th Kyu by learning everything in the 8th, 9th, and 10th Kyu ranks.
